One of our most popular resorts, Flaine ski holidays are known for reliable snow and plenty of ski-in-ski-out convenience.

Ski holidays to Flaine unlock the Grand Massif ski area, one of France’s largest. Here you can enjoy up to 265km of varied terrain perfect for families, beginners and even intermediates. So when you imagine a Flaine ski holiday, think diving down wide-open bowls or gliding along tree-lined runs with the little ones in tow.

Fans of Flaine’s ski resort love the fact you can virtually fall out of bed and be on the slopes – most accommodation is within walking distance or a short bus ride to the lifts. The north-facing bowl above the town also has a reputation for maintaining its snow cover – and the chance to drop in between the pistes.

A ski holiday to Flaine will also keep the snowboarders happy. Flaine’s ski resort is home to the biggest terrain park in the Grand Massif ski area, which features a quarter pipe, tables, rails and even a boardercross course.

Best time to ski in Flaine

The best time to ski in Flaine depends on your needs. With free lifts on the beginner slopes, an excellent ski school and childcare facilities, Flaine ski holidays are naturally popular with families. This means it's busier during peak periods around Christmas and February half term.

If you fancy a bargain or want quieter slopes, try skiing in Flaine in January or March. Flaine’s skiing in January might be chilly but it offers great snow, whilst March brings on longer sunnier days.

Snow conditions in Flaine

Snow conditions in Flaine have a great reputation. Flaine’s ski resort is one of France’s snowiest. With a respectable resort altitude of 1,600m and heaps of skiing above 2,000m there's ample opportunity to enjoy some incredible snow conditions in Flaine.

The season runs from mid-December to mid-April, with Flaine’s snow conditions reaching their peak in late January into February. March and April might bring warmer days, but there will still be plenty of great skiing on offer, big bluebird days and over 50% of Flaine's pistes serviced with top-notch snow cannons.

While Flaine ski holidays offer tons of ski-based fun, including plenty of cross-country skiing there's plenty of other outdoor things to do in Flaine.

Little kids (and big adults) will love the husky sledding on offer. Non-skiers can enjoy the multiple snowshoeing paths with guided night walks also on offer.

Yoga lovers on a Flaine ski holiday should try the ‘relaxation trail’, combining scenic walks and opportunities for outdoor yoga.

Thrill seekers won't go home empty-handed either - from snowmobile rides to ice quad bike riding, there’s even an icy rally driving school for the true daredevils out there.

Things for kids to do in Flaine

Take the little nippers on Flaine’s guided nature adventure. They’ll learn all about alpine wildlife with opportunities to see the elusive mountain goats and foxes through binoculars!

For little ones with bags of energy, grab a sled and send them down Flaine’s big sledging pistes. And if conditions turn a bit sour, head to the Aquatic Centre for plenty of pool-based fun.

Rocky Buffet - Perfect for big skiing appetites, here you can eat as much as you like at your own pace. It’s world food theme is styled across various food trucks. Perfect if you can’t agree on what to eat!

Chez Daniel - A great Flaine restaurant, offering incredible Savoyard classics (think cheesy raclette and fondue!) and pizzas all wrapped up in a warm, friendly atmosphere. It’s perfect for friends or families.

Sushi House - A unique restaurant in Flaine, enjoy traditional Japanese classics like nigiris and sashimis while sat on traditional floor seating. You can even click and collect if you prefer!

1967 - Experience an upmarket and chic Flaine restaurant when you head to 1967. Enjoy mouthwatering meals combining local produce and meats cooked in the charcoal oven.

Nightlife & Apres in Flaine

Nightlife in Flaine is far more mellow than some of its rowdy alpine neighbours. Think quietly unwinding with a soothing beer or glass of wine in one of Flaine's bars. But that's not to say there's no après-ski opportunities, this is the French Alps after all!

Families and groups should head to the Rockypop bar. There’s a pool table, foosball, arcade machines and (ahem) even karaoke to accompany the great drinks and cocktails.

For a cosy and warm bar in Flaine, head to Lapiaz. Relax into comfortable chairs with friends or kick back and watch the big screens for the day's live sport.

For some slightly more lively après-ski in Flaine, head to O’Spot. Unwind with a few beers after a big day on the slopes, or kick on late with the DJs for the best of Flaine’s nightlife.
