Tux is a quiet village located 20 minutes further up the valley from it’s rowdy, better-know neighbour Mayrhofen. It offers the same great skiing as Mayrhofen, but with easier access to the Hintertux glacier and a whole lot of peace and quiet.

The village has some hotels, an apres ski bar, a few shops and restaurants, a bunch of farm buildings and not much else, besides easy access to Mayrhofen’s world class ski area.

The ski access from Tux goes directly to the Egalm and Rastkogel areas, which both offer some wonderful intermediate cruising, and some of the best views in the ski resort. The runs here tend to be much quieter than the busier Penken side, so you’ll be able to ski well-groomed runs for longer before the hoards from Mayrhofen arrive.

Using Tux as a base also gives the easiest access to Hintertux, which offers some fabulous high-altitude skiing on the glacier. As with Mayrhofen, the area is best suited to intermediates but there’s plenty for advanced skiers too.
