Skiing in Morillon

Country: France

In a nutshell: A sleepy village linked to a huge ski area, with a very short transfer from Geneva

We like:

  • The peaceful village setting with its relaxed family-friendly atmosphere
  • Linked to France's fourth biggest ski area with fantastic skiing for all abilities
  • A really short transfer so great for ski weekends
  • Great value for money on the accommodation front

We don’t like:

  • Low altitude so snow can suffer
  • Party-goers will be disappointed with the apres ski
  • Ski days often end with a cable car ride down to the village

  • Resort altitude: 700-1,100m
  • Highest lift: 2,480m
  • Lowest piste: 700m
  • Transfer time from most convenient airport: Geneva – 50m
  • Number of lifts: 95
  • Number of runs:
      • Green: 17
      • Blue: 64
      • Red: 46
      • Black: 14

  • Family friendly
  • Big ski area
  • Great for beginners
  • Great for intermediates

Morillon is a traditional and very pretty Savoyarde village with a relaxed atmosphere. It’s a great option for family ski holidays, and given its proximity to Geneva should be considered by anyone wanting a quiet ski weekend. The village has some charming shops and a handful of bars and restaurants. It doesn’t cater well for party animals, but skiers wanting the opposite of the mega-resort experience will love it.

Families will love the quiet village, the great beginners slopes and children’s village which include toboggan run and ice rink. The skiing in the Grand Massif is fantastic. At France’s fourth largest ski resort it caters well for skiers of all abilities, with intermediate skiers being the best served.
